Valentine's Day Cake Sale

Hello,
As you probably know, yesterday was Valentine's Day and this blog entry is going to be about something that happened then.

My school raises a lot of money for charity and every term, almost every form does something to help raise money. Our form didn't know what to do but eventually we came up with the idea of a Valentine's themed cake sale. We all had to make cakes to sell and they had to be Valentine's Day themed. I am going to write about the different things that were made.

I made quite small chocolate cupcakes with icing but on the top, I put hundreds and thousands and little candy hearts. They looked really pretty and all of them went apart from one. They were a big hit! The other cakes that were very popular were the red velvet cakes, made with cake mixture and food colouring. These cakes were made by one of my friends who is known to be good at baking. They had a vanilla buttercream spread over the top and she had sprinkled little bits of dried raspberry on the top. They looked really nice and tasted delicious.

There were a range of biscuits made as well. Firstly, there were milk and white chocolate cookies. They went quite quickly as they were big and a lot of people commented that they really liked them. There were also plain vanilla biscuits with pink icing but they were in the shape of love-hearts so they looked really nice. Another one of my friends made heart shaped shortbread and although she had a bit of a disaster with some of them, apparently they still tasted yummy.

One unusual thing that someone made was chocolate truffles. We really weren't expecting that sort of thing but they looked really cute all wrapped up in special plastic pouches. She had made them in ball shapes, put them in pretty pink cases and sprinkled gems and small sweets on the top. They looked really pretty.

The cake sale went really well and we raised lots of money for a school that helps disabled people learn. I hope I have inspired some of my readers to bake some cakes for charity!
Bye
